I spent most of my career as a registered representative, mostly with firms that were forerunners of what is now Citigroup.  A common thread throughout this career was a relentless search for profitable investment opportunities.  Seldom were those opportunities found in the research reports from the firms I represented.

After opting for semi-retirement in the mid-90s I wrote a book for individual investors - Be Your Own Broker .  The book offered ideas for using the Internet to discover profitable investment ideas.  My timing was not good, since the book was published just prior to the "dot.com" market collapse.  However, many of the ideas presented in the book continue to have value in today's markets.

After writing the book I continued to pursue my search for profitable investment concepts.  Over the years I"ve become convinced of a reality that is obvious to most seasoned and professional investors . . . . market-moving investment ideas are usually not discovered in any of the popular financial media outlets. 

However there are always early discoverers of market-moving investment ideas.  Although they can't always be identified, quite often their buying activity can be detected.

Thus began my focus on institutional investment management firms and - ultimately - this web site.

I'm currently co-authoring another book which we hope to have published some time during 2010.  It will delve more deeply into the rationale that is the basis for this web site.

On a more personal note, I majored in History at Brown University.  Recently I moved from Rochester, NY to idyllic Wickford, RI where I enjoy golfing whenever weather permits.
